The Acting Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘C’ Owerri, Deputy Comptroller Farouk Nadaniya, on Tuesday, 14th October 2026, embarked on an extensive familiarization tour of Commands under Zone ‘C’.

The Commands visited include the Zonal Headquarters Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt I Command, Ibeto Seaport Command (Area V), Port Harcourt Area II Command, Onne, and the Eastern Marine Command.

The tour, according to the Unit, forms part of strategic measures to deepen operational coordination, foster inter-command synergy, and enhance efficient service delivery in line with the mandate of the Service.

During the visits, the Acting Comptroller engaged the Area Controllers and their management teams, using the opportunity to build closer working ties and to solicit their sustained support and cooperation.

Acting Comptroller Nadaniya expressed deep appreciation to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to serve, and commended the Area Controllers, officers and men for their warm reception and dedication to duty.

He harped on the need for collective responsibility in tackling smuggling, safeguarding government revenue and facilitating legitimate trade, stressing that seamless collaboration between the Federal Operations Unit and Area Commands remains pivotal to achieving the broader strategic goals of the Nigeria Customs Service.

While appealing for continuity of the support accorded his predecessor, Nadaniya noted that such cooperation will help consolidate existing gains and boost operational performance across the entire Zone.

Responding, the Area Controllers described the visit as unique and commendable, the first of its kind, and assured the Acting Comptroller of a cordial, professional relationship built on mutual respect, discipline and accountability.

They urged him to sustain the tempo and align effectively with the visionary reforms and giant strides of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, in repositioning the Service for greater excellence.

The Controllers further reaffirmed their total and unflinching support for the Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘C’, and offered prayers for divine guidance, protection, sound health and wisdom for the Acting Comptroller and his team.

In a related development, the Acting Comptroller disclosed that he had earlier held a strategic meeting with Patrol Team Leaders of the Unit, where he charged them to uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, vigilance and accountability, given the critical role of the Federal Operations Unit in driving the core mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service
