Apapa Customs Hits All-Time High With ₦323BN Revenue In July 2026
….Comptroller Oshoba: B’Odogwu, OSS, AEO and Forex Stability Driving Historic Performance

The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded a historic monthly revenue collection of _₦323 billion_ for July 2026, the highest figure ever posted by the Command.
The milestone was announced by the Customs Area Controller, _Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba_, during the Command’s monthly meeting with Deputy Comptrollers of Terminals and Unit Heads on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
The July figure surpasses the Command’s previous record of _₦304 billion_ collected in October 2025, also under Comptroller Oshoba’s leadership, and signals a sustained upward trajectory in revenue performance at Nigeria’s busiest port.
Comptroller Oshoba attributed the breakthrough to a mix of policy support, technological upgrades and improved compliance by stakeholders.
He commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, _Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the NCS management team for their commitment to the Service’s modernisation drive.
“We acknowledge the CGC’s devotion to the modernisation project of the Nigeria Customs Service. The management has rolled out innovations that have streamlined our processes and given us clear operational direction,” Oshoba stated.
He highlighted key reforms delivering measurable results:
. *B’Odogwu System*: The indigenous trade platform, which earlier faced challenges, has been optimized and is now driving efficiency in declarations and assessments.
. *One-Stop Shop, OSS*: The initiative has cut cargo dwell time and created a more predictable environment for legitimate trade.
. *Authorised Economic Operator, AEO*: With over 200 certified beneficiaries, the framework has boosted voluntary compliance and positively impacted revenue.
The CAC said intelligence-driven enforcement has also strengthened compliance. Officers, he noted, have intensified interventions to detect false declarations and enforce strict adherence to valuation principles to safeguard national revenue.
He further credited the enabling business environment under President _Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR_, particularly the relative stability in the foreign exchange market.
“A stable and predictable forex regime allows importers to plan, make informed decisions and trade with confidence. That confidence is translating into improved declarations and higher revenue,” he explained.
While celebrating the feat, Comptroller Oshoba challenged officers to raise the bar beyond normal collection duties.
“In your Area of Responsibility, ask yourself: What is my intervention? What value have I added beyond routine revenue?” he asked.
He directed that trade disputes be resolved swiftly, documentation processes be strictly followed, and the Post Clearance Audit, PCA, be fully deployed where required to ensure due diligence.
On stakeholder relations, he issued a firm directive:
“When people come to your office, let them leave with hope, not despair. Leadership is about giving people hope.”
Comptroller Oshoba urged officers to uphold transparency, embrace digital tools, and continue learning. He described effective leadership as a collective responsibility, calling on Staff Officers to support Deputy Controllers in enforcing discipline and building a work culture rooted in empathy, teamwork and welfare.
He also called for heightened security consciousness, proper supervision, continuous training and full compliance with Service procedures.
The CAC appreciated officers and compliant stakeholders for the achievement, but cautioned against complacency.
“This is a stepping stone, not the destination. As 2026 winds down, let us sustain this momentum, deepen professionalism, and deliver even greater results for the nation,” he charged.
