Also in attendance was Mrs. Juliana Oby Saka, a senior official of the NSC, alongside other colleagues and associates who have worked closely with Dr. Ambi-Mohammed over the years.

Declaring the occasion open, the Chairman of the event and Director of Strategic Planning and Research, Mr. Rotimi Anifowose, described the retiree as one of the most reliable and principled officers the Council has produced.

Mr. Anifowose, who said he was part of the interview panel that employed Dr. Ambi-Mohammed in 2000, noted that hiring him remains one of the Council’s best decisions.

“I can say without hesitation that the panel got it right. We made at least one excellent choice, and today we are all witnesses to the dividends of that decision,” he stated.

He further praised Dr. Ambi-Mohammed for his calm temperament, fairness, and expertise in resolving conflicts.

“It is a rare thing for a man who spent his career settling other people’s complaints to retire without anyone having a complaint against him. That, to me, is the true measure of integrity,” Anifowose added, to loud applause.

Dr. Ambi-Mohammed began his public service journey with the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of NNPC, before joining the NSC in 2000 as a Public Relations Officer.

Academically, he is a towering figure. He holds a B.A. in Mass Communication from the University of Maiduguri, two Master’s degrees in Mass Communication and International Transport, as well as http://M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Mass Communication. He is a Certified Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Practitioner, and a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

Beyond his official duties, Dr. Ambi-Mohammed was deeply involved in staff welfare and professional advocacy. He served as General Secretary and later President of the NSC Staff Cooperative Society, where he was credited with strengthening its finances. He also led the Lagos State Branch of CILT Nigeria for two terms and currently serves as General Secretary of the Lagos State Chapter of NIPR.

His record of excellence attracted several recognitions, including the NSC ACTU/ICPC Integrity Award, the NSC CEO Award, multiple CILT Nigeria President’s Awards, and the CILT International President’s Award in 2024.
