PTML Sets New Bar: DC Nura Miko Pushes for Faster Clearance, Stronger Stakeholder Ties at Lagos RoRo Hub

Deputy Comptroller of Customs Nura Miko, Acting Area Controller of the Port & Terminal Multi-services Limited Area Command, has made stronger stakeholder collaboration his first priority. During his debut visit to Grimaldi/PTML Terminal in Lagos on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, he called on terminal operators, freight forwarders, and port agencies to work as one team to ease trade, accelerate cargo processing, and deliver revenue figures that outpace previous records.
Miko’s maiden tour took him straight to the heart of PTML operations, where he engaged the leadership of Grimaldi and PTML alongside other key port stakeholders. The meeting focused on practical ways to cut bottlenecks and align processes between Customs and private operators.
He commended both PTML and Grimaldi for transforming the terminal into Nigeria’s premier Roll-on Roll-off port facility. According to him, their investments in infrastructure, technology, and strict compliance with international security standards have positioned PTML as a benchmark for port operations in West Africa.
A major highlight of the engagement was PTML’s clearance record. The terminal currently clears compliant RoRo imports within two hours, one of the fastest in the country. But Miko believes that’s just the starting point. He challenged all stakeholders to collaborate on cutting that timeline further, stressing that speed must never come at the expense of integrity or regulatory compliance. He noted that quicker turnaround also means terminals can manage vessel and cargo space more efficiently, reducing costs for everyone.
The Acting Area Controller also outlined his leadership philosophy: open, consultative, and inclusive. He assured stakeholders that their feedback will directly shape policy and operations at the Command.
In his words: “PTML Command holds the record as the Command with a two-hour cargo clearance time for compliant RoRo imports. As a Service, we can do even better and further shorten that time without compromising our integrity. This will also translate into more efficient management of your terminal space.”
He added: “I am here to listen. Your insights, expertise, and perspectives are vital to our success. I look forward to engaging with you to align our efforts for mutual growth. Whatever we have achieved together in the past can, and will be, surpassed.”
Responding, PTML General Manager Tunde Keshinro reaffirmed the terminal’s commitment to working closely with the Nigeria Customs Service. He praised Miko’s proactive approach and said Grimaldi’s operations have benefited from the Command’s support. Keshinro expressed confidence that with shared understanding, both parties can resolve any operational grey areas.
The stakeholder engagement extended beyond terminal management. DC Miko also met with heads of other security agencies at the port, as well as representatives from the African Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria and the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents. He closed by reiterating PTML Command’s resolve to deepen partnerships, sustain trade facilitation gains, and push revenue performance to new heights.
