PRINCE SANUSI BAGS NUJ MEDIA GAMES AMBASSADOR HONOUR IN AMUWO-ODOFIN

The Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, Prince Lanre Sanusi, fondly called PLS, has been decorated as a Media Games Ambassador by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Lagos State Council.

The investiture was held on Tuesday at the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Secretariat in Lagos. The ceremony was well attended by members of the NUJ Lagos State Executive and the Media Games Committee, led by its Chairman, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi.

In his remarks, Mr. Ajayi described Prince Sanusi as a visionary, selfless, and people-focused leader whose commitment to grassroots development and accountable governance has set him apart across Lagos State.

“The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Council is proud to recognise Prince Lanre Sanusi as one of our Media Games Ambassadors. This honour is a direct reflection of his dedication to grassroots development, responsive leadership, and governance that puts people first,” Ajayi said.

He stressed that the PLS administration has demonstrated that purposeful leadership at the local level can bring about meaningful and visible change.

Ajayi outlined key areas where the administration has made significant impact since coming into office:

Infrastructure and Environmental Renewal
The council has embarked on massive road rehabilitation and construction, drainage improvement, environmental sanitation, beautification of public spaces, and enhanced security. These interventions have made Amuwo-Odofin cleaner, safer, and more attractive for both residents and investors.

Human Capital and Economic Empowerment
Prince Sanusi’s government has placed strong emphasis on youth and women empowerment, vocational training, skills acquisition, and support for small businesses.
“By investing in people, this administration has restored hope among our youths and strengthened the local economy,” Ajayi noted.

Health and Education
There have also been strategic upgrades in schools and primary healthcare centres aimed at creating better learning environments and improving the overall wellbeing of residents.

“Prince Sanusi’s track record proves that visionary leadership can overcome institutional barriers. His administration stands as a model of dedication, integrity, and service to humanity,” Ajayi added.

Responding, Prince Sanusi thanked the NUJ for the recognition and dedicated the honour to the people of Amuwo-Odofin.

“My heart is full of gratitude. It is one thing to work hard, and another for people to notice and appreciate the work. This recognition belongs to the good people of Amuwo-Odofin,” he said.

He appreciated his management team, council staff, and legislators, stating that the progress recorded so far would not have been possible without their teamwork.

The chairman revealed that the council has successfully completed 11 major roads within 11 months, with several other projects still ongoing. He also disclosed the renovation of the Legislative Chamber and efforts to ensure supervisors and councillors are actively involved in governance.

“Drive around Amuwo-Odofin today and you will see projects everywhere. I am not interested in whether a road belongs to the state or federal government. What matters is that our people get the basic infrastructure they deserve,” he said.

Prince Sanusi also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for championing local government autonomy, noting that it is already yielding positive results. He added that within the first year, residents have benefited from vocational training programmes, improved healthcare services, and renewed investment in sports to engage the youths.

“Every kobo meant for Amuwo-Odofin will be judiciously spent and properly accounted for. We are determined to restore the council to its former glory and position it as a model for other local governments,” he assured.

The NUJ Lagos State Council expressed optimism about strengthening its partnership with Amuwo-Odofin LG ahead of the 2026 NUJ Media Games.

The games are scheduled to hold from October 5 to October 10, 2026 at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.

The union further reaffirmed its commitment to honouring public office holders who exhibit excellence, transparency, and a genuine commitment to service for the development of Lagos State and Nigeria.
