Stakeholders to Chart Nigeria’s Blue Economy Future at TransQuest Symposium in Lagos

Key stakeholders in Nigeria’s maritime, Customs and transport sectors will gather in Lagos on Saturday, July 25, 2026, for the TransQuest Anniversary Transport Development Symposium and Awards, to deliberate on strategies for driving sustainable growth in the nation’s blue economy.
The event, themed “Re-Appraising Nigeria’s Blue Economy: Charting a Path to Sustainable Growth”, will be held at Shoregate Hotel, 29 Joel Ogunnaike Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, starting at 11:00 a.m. prompt. It will be chaired by retired Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Charles Eporwei Edike.
The Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Chief Adegboyega Oyetola, is expected as the Special Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker. He will lead conversations on policy reforms, investment opportunities, and the roadmap for a more competitive maritime sector.
The symposium will feature a high-level panel of industry leaders including:
Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General of Customs;
Dr. Pius Akutah Ukeyima, ES/CEO, Nigerian Shippers’ Council;
Dr. Dayo Mobereola, DG, NIMASA;
Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, MD, NPA;
Alhaji Umar Yusuf Girei, Ag. MD, NIWA;
Dr. Kevin Okonna, Rector, Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron;
Dr. Sule Abiodun, ED, NIOMR; and
Dr. Chucks Paul Onuoha, Provost, FCFMT.
The session will be moderated by veteran maritime journalist Elder Asu Beks.
Technical presentations will also be delivered by Lucky Amiwero, President, NCMDLCA, and Dr. Eugene Ifeanyichukwu Nweke, Head of Research, SEREC and former President of NAGAFF.

Beyond dialogue, the event will celebrate excellence with the TransQuest Awards.
