Oyo/Osun Customs Command Reinforces Inter-Agency Collaboration with NSCDC, Correctional Service

By Success Okezie

Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, the Acting Customs Area Controller for the Oyo/Osun Area Command, has reaffirmed that the Nigeria Customs Service is committed to working more closely with other security agencies. This commitment was made clear during a series of courtesy visits to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Correctional Service in Oyo State.

According to a press release issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I Abdulmalik Akintola, the purpose of the visits was to strengthen institutional ties and improve operational coordination among the agencies. The goal is to ensure smoother collaboration as each body carries out its statutory mandate.

During the engagements, DC Adewole stressed that lasting cooperation, regular intelligence sharing, and mutual support are essential if government agencies are to tackle security challenges effectively. He pointed out that such synergy is key to curbing smuggling, securing Nigeria’s borders, and enabling the smooth flow of legitimate trade across the country.

The statement also noted that these visits form part of the Command’s wider strategy to consolidate existing partnerships and create stronger communication channels. By doing so, the Command aims to ensure faster, more coordinated responses to security issues in both Oyo and Osun States.

The leadership of both the NSCDC and the Nigerian Correctional Service welcomed the initiative. They commended the gesture and pledged to maintain a cordial and productive working relationship with the Nigeria Customs Service. Their shared focus, they said, is to advance common national objectives, improve security administration, and protect both government interests and the safety of the public.
