It was an epoch making event at Customs Ogun1 Command, Idiroko, as the indefatigable and scholarly Controller Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu Tuesday, handed over the mantle of leadership of the Command to Controller James Folorunsho Ojo.

Controller Shuaibu was described as an officer who succeeded where others failed, according to stakeholders, Shuaibu could also be described as a “man who rode the Bear”
as he was at ease where others dread to work.

To them, Idiroko was a volatile place but with the able leadership of Shuaibu, it is now calm and peaceful due to his leadership acumen, hard work and visionary leadership.

The ceremony according to Controller Shuaibu marks a transition, a passing of Baton from one capable leader to another, ensuring the seamless continuity operations and the preservation of Customs mission objectives.

Giving a report of his tour of duty, Controller Shuaibu said Ogun 1 Command experienced a substantial increase in revenue generation, enhanced anti-smuggling exploit with minimum to zero casualties and also added to the overall development of the Command. The Command he said, also engaged in laudable Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR). Compt. Shuaibu attributed these achievements to the unwavering support of the Customs management team at the Headquarters, the dedicated efforts of his officers and men and the collaborative efforts of critical stakeholders. He urged the officers to intensify their efforts and extend maximum support and cooperation to the incoming administration, to sustain the Command’s performance tempo.

Shuaibu thanked all those who made his reign in Ogun 1 worthwhile, in his words, ” I humbly extend my appreciation to the entire officers and men of Ogun 1 Command, our esteemed heads of security agencies within and outside the borders, traditional institutions, community leaders, our indefatigable youths and other critical stakeholders for the good and memorable working relationship we enjoyed together.”

Responding, Compt. Ojo thanked Shuaibu for the leadership skill exhibited during his stay in the command and laudable achievements made. He pledged to uphold the standard left by his predecessor and also work with officers of Ogun 1, all stakeholders and traditional institutions, while he equally solicited for their support and cooperation to succeed.

The very cerebral Compt. Shuaibu will direct the affairs of Customs Federal Operations, Zone ‘B’ as Controller, in line with recent changes by Customs CGC.
