The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)* has successfully facilitated the recovery and clearance of critical power equipment belonging to the *Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) that had been stranded and abandoned at various Nigerian seaports.
According to the NDPHC, the intervention is a major boost that will accelerate the delivery of critical power projects nationwide and help the company avoid potential losses running into billions of naira.
The NDPHC Managing Director, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the NDPHC management team to the Managing Director of the NPA, *Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, and his team in Lagos over the weekend.
Engr. Adighije lauded the NPA for its swift action, noting that the recovery and clearance of the equipment is vital to strengthening Nigeria’s power infrastructure and ensuring the timely execution of ongoing and planned projects.
She explained that the equipment is essential for key NDPHC projects across the country. Prolonged delays, she warned, would have disrupted project timelines, driven up costs, and slowed efforts to improve electricity supply to Nigerians.
“The NPA’s intervention has not only helped us recover valuable assets, but has also saved the NDPHC billions of naira in potential losses,” she stated.
The NDPHC boss called for *deeper collaboration between the NDPHC, NPA, and other relevant agencies in the energy and maritime sectors to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks that delay the movement of critical infrastructure.
She stressed that the *timely clearance of power-sector equipment is crucial to ensuring contractors and project teams have unhindered access to materials, thereby delivering projects on schedule.
Engr. Adighije added that the visit was also to *strengthen the strategic partnership between both organizations and explore more areas of mutual cooperation.
She thanked Dr. Dantsoho and the NPA management for their commitment to resolving port-related challenges affecting NDPHC equipment, and reaffirmed NDPHC’s resolve to further deepen the relationship in the interest of national development.
In his response, Dr. Dantsoho commended the NDPHC team for the visit and reiterated the NPA’s dedication to supporting initiatives that drive national growth.
