The Ag. Customs Area Controller, Ogun I Area Command, Deputy Comptroller Olukayode Afeni has introduced a mandatory weekly exercise routine for all officers at the Ogun I Area Command. This weekly exercise aligns with the Comptroller-General’s vision for a healthier, physical and mentally fit for the demands of the service and productive workforce.
Speaking at the launch on Thursday, 15 January 2026, Deputy Comptroller Afeni emphasized that the rigorous nature of Customs work-marked by long hours and fieldwork—requires a deliberate commitment to health. Only when we are healthy can we perform effectively, Afeni stated,

The goal is to ensure every officer is physically fit and mentally sharp to serve the nation better. This isn’t a one-off event but will now be observing the exercise every Thursdays to promotes teamwork and informal interaction among personnel to strengthen discipline and service readiness. We are making fitness a culture here, the Command is proving that a fit team is a formidable team.” says DC Afeni.
DC Afeni reaffirmed that officer welfare remains a top priority, urging all staff to embrace fitness as a core component of their professional lives
The inaugural exercise included jogging, aerobics, football and Volleyball.


Beyond physical health, the exercise is designed to reduce stress, foster camaraderie, and boost overall morale within the Comman
