Customs Rehabilitates Bad Section Of Ijokodo Road In Ibadan

… Oyo/Osun Command Moves To Ease Traffic, Boost Community Welfare.

By Success Okezie

For months, it was a daily nightmare.

Every morning, motorists groaned. Keke riders swerved. Traders held their breath. School children jumped over potholes just to get to class.

That bad, broken section of Ijokodo Road in Ibadan had become more than just a road — it had become a punishment. A punishment for going to work. A punishment for going to market. A punishment for simply living in the area.

But that story has now changed.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oyo/Osun Area Command, has rehabilitated the deteriorated section of Ijokodo Road, bringing relief to motorists, residents and all road users who ply the route daily.

The intervention, carried out as part of the Command’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, was led by the Acting Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, alongside members of the Command’s Management Team, officers and men.

For the people of Ijokodo, it was not just road repair. It was hope restored. It was time saved. It was vehicles saved from damage. It was stress reduced.

The rehabilitation was aimed at addressing the poor condition of the affected section of the road, which had made movement difficult for motorists, residents and other road users.

The Command said the initiative was part of its commitment to complementing government efforts towards improving community infrastructure and promoting the welfare of residents.

It noted that the Nigeria Customs Service’s responsibilities extend beyond revenue generation and anti-smuggling operations to include meaningful contributions to the development and wellbeing of its host communities.

The Command further reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that strengthen community relations, promote public welfare and contribute to socio-economic development.

Today, the road is motorable again. The sighs of frustration have turned to smiles of relief. And for the residents of Ijokodo, Customs did not just fix a road — it fixed a daily burden.
