The Tin Can Island Customs Command is moving top speed ahead with its ambitious roadmap to boost trade efficiency, deepen transparency, and drive revenue growth.

The Command’s impressive January 2026 revenue performance of ₦145.9 billion, marks a significant increase from ₦116.4 billion in January 2025.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to the power of teamwork, stakeholders cooperation, and sustained media engagement, according to Comptroller F.O. Onyeka.

The Controller expressed a heartfelt gratitude to the media for their constructive and responsible reportage, which has helped shape operational reforms and improve stakeholder confidence over the past year.

Controller Onyeka highlighted the roadmap for greater trade growth and enablement to include: Paperless Cargo Processing, a fully digital system to streamline cargo clearance and eliminate unnecessary human contact.
Smoother processes for importers and clearing agents, reducing delays and corruption risks.

Onyeka harped that transparency, Strengthened collaboration with media and stakeholders, ensuring timely information sharing and feedback will be Heightened.

According to him the command’s revenue growth will focus on “collectible revenue” rather than “maximum revenue”, to support businesses and employment.

He reiterated that the Command’s leadership, under the guidance of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, is committed to modernizing Customs operations and leveraging technology to drive progress. “Customs officers are now equipped to operate as 21st-century professionals, guided by global best practices.”

He explained that Infrastructure improvements are ongoing to ensure seamless digital processing, and stakeholders are encouraged to engage directly with the Command to resolve concerns.
