Comptroller Mohammed Salisu Shuaibu Pays Courtsey Visit to Aleke of Egbaland

… Reaffirmed commitment to end incessant clashes between the Smugglers and officers

The Alake of Egbaland, other respected traditional leaders and sister security agencies in Ogun State were recently the focus of a courtesy visit by Comptroller MS Shuaibu, the Customs Area Controller of Ogun I Area Command. To improve economic growth and security along Nigeria’s borders with the Republic of Benin, this strategic visit intends to promote long-term cooperation and synergy through intelligence sharing and suppression of anti-smuggling activities in and out of the country

Comptroller Shuaibu met with numerous esteemed traditional leaders in Ogun State, including His Royal Majesty Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Olu of Owode Oba Rev. MS Akindele JP and Olu of Ilaro, the Paramount Ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle.

He emphasized the vital role traditional leaders play in preserving peace, order, and security within their communities and conveyed his sincere gratitude for their steadfast support. Comptroller Shuaibu emphasized that to improve border security and successfully fight smuggling, it is crucial to draw on the experience and legacy of long-standing institutions.

The visit of Comptroller Shuaibu also included productive talks with sister security agencies in Ogun State, which highlighted the necessity of strong and ongoing cooperation between security agencies to combat the threats of smuggling and other cross-border crimes. By exchanging intelligence, resources, and expertise, the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies can form a strong front against those who aim to jeopardize Nigeria’s national security and economic stability.

The strategic importance of Ogun State’s borders with the Republic of Benin and the need for a united front in the battle against economic crimes, such as smuggling, were also acknowledged by him. In cooperation with traditional leaders and security agencies, Comptroller Shuaibu pledged that the Nigeria Customs Service will keep using innovative and resourceful strategies to safeguard the nation’s borders and promote economic growth.

The Nigerian Police Force, National Drugs and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and Department of State Security Services (DSS) were among the sister security agencies visited by the CAC, which was warmly welcomed and assured of continuous support and collaboration with Ogun I Area Command.

Comptroller Shuaibu was upbeat about the visit’s accomplishments and the improved ties with security forces and traditional leaders.

In his closing remarks. He urged continued collaboration, cooperation and dedication to addressing any obstacles. The Ogun I Area Command is committed to working together with a common goal to accomplish it, Comptroller Shuaibu reaffirmed.
