By Okezie Nnadi
The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) under the aegis of the President -General, Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, fnli, HFCPSP, thanks the leadership of the four branches of the union, the terminal operators in all the nation’s seaports, Jetties, oil & gas, critical Stakeholders like;NPA,NIMASA,STOAN,The Nigerian Shipper’s Council,Police,DSS and Other security agencies for their immense cooperation in the two-day warning strike as declared by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) over the removal of fuel subsidy, which has meted untold hardship on Nigerian Workers and the citizenry.
Comrade Adeyanju, who doubles as the Deputy President of the NLC expressed his satisfaction over the total compliance of the two -day warning strike in the maritime sector.
The Maritime Workers Union is indeed satisfied over the two-day exercise which has equally sent a very strong signal to the government over the consistent suffering of Nigerian Workers and the impoverished masses over the subsidy removal since June, 2023.
Today, the 7th of September, work commences in all the terminals across all the nation’s seaports, Jetties and oil & gas platforms believing same that the federal government will see reason towards addressing all the demands of the Organised Labour to cushion the harsh effect of the subsidy removal. Once again, I wish to sincerely appreciate all Captains and Employers of labour in the Maritime sector during the two day warning exercise .
