JBSM Dissolves Multiple Checkpoints Along Seme Border Corridor.

The joint border Security Meeting has evacuated all illegal check points on SeME boarder road. This was contained in a statement issued after the meeting with all the security agencies by the chairman, Comptroller Bello Jibo of Nigeria Customs Service SEME on the 9th of December 2022.
Eavesdropperonline gathered in the available brief that the dissolution of the illegal points was as a result of joint agreement among the JBSM, that consists of the following , The Military,The Nigerian Police Force, The Department of State Services, The Nigeria Customs Service, The Nigeria Immigration Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and others.

According to the chairman, “We had a boarder security meeting on 7th of December over the persisting problem of multiple checkpoints. Arising from the meeting consisting of all the security agencies, the committee resolved that they cannot continue to superintend on the high and increasing number of illegal checkpoints across the SeME Border corridor “.
The JBSM came up with three steps agenda to help actualise its aim:
They jointly agreed that all agencies should have identity
To create a structure and develop a framework that agrees with it to avoid inter agency rivalry
secondly to implement these agreements by using the framework to remove all illegal checkpoints and possibly merge others.

In agreement with the resolution, the Controller of the Nigerian Immgration service Seme Dr. Chukwuemeka Dike’s opinion,which formed the third step is to form a standing monitoring team that will ensure that the conclusions and agreement of the JBSM on this subject matter are perfectly implemented.
According to him” We want to key into the Presidential Order 001 on Ease of doing Business. We need security on this corridor, but there is no need having multiple checkpoints on this corridor “ , Dike stressed.

While in conclusion, Col Mohammed Abba the commanding officer of
243 Recce Battalion Barracks Ibereko Badagry said that JBSM will bring personnel together to patrol the corridor both day and night.
He also assured that all those illegal checkpoints will soon disappear.
