NSC Participates in Joint Survey of Returned Export Cargos Valued At over N118.8 million

‘Nigerian Shippers’ Council participated in the Joint Survey of 2X20FT returned Export Cargoes valued at 75,000 USD equivalent to N118,800,000 Million, that was wrongly shipped to Jebel Alli Port, Dubai, UAE instead of India by Hapag Llyod Shipping Company without any document.
It could be recalled that on Monday, 18th November, 2024, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council intervened on this complaint and one of the resolutions was an instruction for the Shipping Company (Hapag Lloyd Shipping Nigeria) to return the 2×20 FT containers of Sesame seeds valued at over N118, 800,000 Million shipped since September, 2024 from Apapa port to Jebel Ali port, Dubai, UAE instead of India with immediate effect and cargo Survey be done with all the relevant agencies in attendance.
The head, Complaints Unit, Dr. Bashir Ambi who led the Complaints team to the APM Terminals, Apapa where the 2 seals of the returned export containers were broken in the presence of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council. Consignee & his Surveyors. Staff Members of APM Terminals. Surveyors from Hapag-Lloyd Shipping Company Nigeria, Department of State Security, Nigeria Customs Service, Export Desk, Lilipond, Apapa, and agents.
Apart from physical inspection of the returned Sesame Seeds, samples were taken by the surveyors for further laboratories check to ascertain the quality and weight of the cargo been kept inside boxes since September, 2024.
While waiting for results from the laboratories, parties are grateful for NSC participation. ” Although, I may request for 100% survey and request for NSC presence for the validation of the final report/analysis of cost implications in an arranged place within the terminal or outside, the consignee added.
