The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) is gearing up for its 7th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference (NDC), slated for Friday, March 28, 2025. The grand event will take place at Festival Hotels, Amuwo Odofin, Festac Town, Lagos State, promising to be a landmark occasion in the union’s history.
A highlight of the conference is the prestigious awards ceremony designed to honor individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the Maritime Sector. Recipients will be celebrated for their commitment to the industry’s growth and development, with organizers urging prompt arrival to ensure a smooth and memorable ceremony.
Under the leadership of Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, MWUN is set to unveil its first-ever historical publication, titled *HISTORY OF MARITIME WORKERS UNION OF NIGERIA, 1996 TO 2024.* This groundbreaking book chronicles the union’s journey, achievements, and challenges over nearly three decades. The official launch will take place during the conference.
Another key aspect of the event is the seamless transition of leadership. Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adeyanju will conclude his tenure in adherence to MWUN’s constitution, which limits leadership terms to two four-year periods. Demonstrating a commitment to democratic principles and the union’s values, Dr. Adeyanju will hand over power in a harmonious and orderly manner.
As MWUN prepares for this milestone conference, the organization continues to champion service, advocacy, and solidarity among maritime workers, ensuring a bright and united future for the industry.
