Oyo/Osun Customs Seizes 15,700ltrs. of smuggled PMS, 1,750ltrs. AGO

The Oyo/ Osun Customs Command has showcased petrol and Diesel seized by it’s newly assembled PMS Taskforce, within the Command’s area of control.
Comptroller AR. Abdulkadir, the Area Controller during the showcase of the
Seizures said, the newly constituted PMS taskforce has done a good job within the short period, intercepting and confiscating 15,700litres of petrol and 1, 758 litres of Diesel from smugglers going about their neferious activity.
” You will recall that about 3 weks ago, the Command displayed a huge quantity of premium Motor Spirit (PMS), intercepted from various bushes within the States, the seizures here, today is the achievement of the PMS Taskforce,” he said.
Controller Abdulkadir however warned those engaging in illicit trade to desist, “We are not here to joke. We have a duty to generate revenue and suppress smuggling to the barest minimum within the Oyo/Osun area of coverage. while ensuring that prohibited items are not allowed into our jurisdiction.
According to him, in less than a month, from 7 July to 3 August 2021 the Command has in its possession, 60drums of 100litres of PMS, 388kegs of 25 liters each of PMS.
70 Kegs of 25ltrs each of AGO(Diesel) totalling15,700ltrs of PMS and 1,758ltrs of Diesel around the
Oyo/Osun Command’s Area of Coverage, which he described as a laudable fit.
He revealed that the products would be auctioned and proceeds remitted accordingly into the federation Account.
He commended the collaboration between the Customs and other
sister agencies, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Airforce and Operation Burst.
“I want to appreciate Customs Intelligence Unit, Customs Police Unit, Joint Border
Patrol Team, Federal Operations Unit and CGC taskforce for their
contributions and synergy in the achievements made so far, besides the newly inaugurated PMS Taskforce.
